Song to Woody

We saw “A Complete Unknown” again today, and liked it even more this time. We are already planning on seeing it again next week, it’s that good. The performances are amazing, as all actors perform their own songs. There are several emotional scenes, but the one that got me was when he sang “Song to Woody” to Woody Guthrie when he was hospitalized. It is a VERY moving scene, but for me it’s even more so. My last two years of teaching, I taught a class called Lyricism. I won’t bore you with the curriculum, but I will say that for the first day of the year, I always sang and played “Song to Woody” for my classes. I think they liked it. I know after all these years, I like it.
