Recycled plastic
The Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations in Canada prohibit the manufacture, import, and sale of 6 categories of single-use plastics. One of the categories is checkout bags designed to carry purchased goods from a business and typically given to a customer at the retail point of sale.
We use reusable bags for all our purchases. G was making more applesauce today and had the apples we bought yesterday in a WalMart bag. I hadn't noticed the information on the side of the bag before. It was sitting on the counter after G took the apples out of it, and this caught my eye. Good that this bag is made from plastic bottles. I heard recently that not all plastic dropped off at recycling places is reused and quite a lot of it ends up in landfills. A bit discouraging to hear that news, but we'll keep dropping off plastics at our recycling centre and hopefully the majority of it is recycled.
Extra: making applesauce
