Blue Sky!
I discovered through the ranting on the local Facebook group that the insane traffic last night was due to traffic lights on a stretch of road between two roundabouts. They’re digging up the road again apparently to put in yet more internet wires. Or - according to Facebook - because the councillors are lining their pockets with backhanders. Rolls eyes!
It was gridlocked by 7am which didn’t bode well for the first school run of the year. I took them to Waitrose which skirts the edge of the craziness so they could walk from there.
It’s going on until January 16th which is a bit of a nightmare.
I met Mrs L at Stowe for our first walk of the year. It was lovely to get back to normal having not done it much in recent weeks. Christmas outings, working at Tescos as well as the shop, illness, and wanting cheesy fish instead meant walking was definitely on the back burner.
Stowe can be freezing if there’s any wind but luckily today it was still so it was just gorgeous!
In fact, by the time we sat down for our post-walk tea (me) and Diet Coke (Mrs L) I was absolutely roasting hot!!
From there I drove to Middleton Cheney to pick up a dressing table Mrs G had bought on Marketplace to work her magic on. As I was almost in Banbury carried on to Next to return a duvet cover I got Miss E for Christmas which she didn’t like. You’d think flannel was bloody horse hair!!!!! To Superdrug to take back a load of duplicate stuff I got but decided not to give the Little Misses, then to TKMaxx to return a couple of things I bought for myself before Christmas in that haze of “I’ll just spend a load of money on things for myself because it’s Christmas!!”
So £70 odd back on my card which made me feel very organised!
It felt so different to when we were there on December 22nd. Hard to believe it was only just over two weeks ago!!
