Goodbye to The Philippines

It’s a sea day as we travel from The Philippines to Hong Kong - and it’s through stormy waters!

I mentioned yesterday that we left Curromao in great haste. This was clearly an excellent move on the captain’s part as we avoided force 9/10 gales, only having to contend with force 8! Not long after leaving, crew were hurrying around tying down anything that  might move, and soon the ship began rolling with the waves.

G insists I’m a good sailor and that my fear of sea sickness is purely psychological - and having forgotten my tablets it’s a good test of his theory! And he’s right - I’m absolutely fine.

We wake this morning to the continued rolling of the ship interspersed with the slight shudder of the stabilisers. Wind is whistling around the ship, windows are covered with spray and there’s an eerie creaking from the elevators, walking around the vessel is a challenge - but mostly quite amusing as we all adopt a rather staggering, wide legged gait.

This continues all day, though it lessens as we reach the comparative shelter of the coast of mainland China - our lovely captain having altered course and speed to provide us with maximum comfort.

For some reason I forget to take a photo of the rough seas we’re travelling through, so I’m posting one final shot from The Philippines as we left Vigan yesterday.
