Domesticity
I had intended to post a picture of my walking spreadsheet - but laptop screens do not make good photos. The cakes, however, are my promised post Christmas treat for my immediate colleagues and my students with external exams tomorrow. Carrot cake in the larger tins, and the chocolate cake in the cupcakes. For some reason, these are the current most popular cakes of my repertoire.
So, why wanting to do the spreadsheet? On this day in 2016 I decided to do something about trying walking for health reasons, discovered it helped the several things I needed it to do, and just kept on recording the steps and miles. They used to be recorded alongside blood sugar readings, but that's no longer necessary.)
I was absolutely wiped out after 2350 steps (a mile for me) that first night- I'd got seriously out of practise as I'd changed job, from a large college campus, with a longish train commute with 4 lots of short walks every day, to a small college on a direct bus route and only five minutes either end.
Today, I've logged 21000 steps, (a not unusual amount). My spreadsheet tells me my all time daily average is now 17,994 steps, and my running total is 24, 512 miles. About 400 miles off walking round the world....
I'll have some cake tomorrow to celebrate!
