Day trip to Aberdeen

It’s my sister in laws’s birthday so we got organised to head to Aberdeen to see her for an early dinner. She’s going through tough times as her husband has terminal lung cancer. She puts a brave face on things but it must be difficult.

We thought Alan looked better than we’d feared but he’s not great. We spent a wee while in the house then took Phin and their golden retriever Elsa for a walk. They’re in the outskirts of Aberdeen so there was a few inches of snow. The dogs really enjoyed romping in the field beside their house..

Alan wasn’t up to joining us for dinner but Peter and the kids were there too so I hope we managed to make her birthday a little special.

A lovely steak pie and chocolate brownie pudding for me meant I had to fight against sleep on the way home to Edinburgh. The weather was a little poor until we got halfway down the A90 but Mr PHL coped well.
