Number 4449

Ok, granted it's not three, three, three, nine, but it is a rare 1941 steam locomotive that passed through our town this evening. The Daylight is on its way to Owosso, Michigan from Portland Oregon, for the 2009 Train Festival. The locomotive in the Polar Express movie was fashioned after this one. The sound of its chug, chug, chug and toot, toot, toot brought tears to my eyes. We waited about three hours for it to arrive, make a short stop, and then continue on heading eastbound.

Three cars, three windows, and three passengers hanging out to wave and shout is what I bring you this evening. It was on one of three tracks - and I wish I could say it arrived promptly at three, but it was actually 6:30 p.m..
