Buffet
I am working these two days before the New Year holiday. Had I had enough holiday hours, I would have considered taking these days off, but when I gained an extra day thanks to the company declaring the 27th a non-working day, I opted to give myself three days off next weekend. At 9:30 am, I joined our daily meeting, in which Chris was the only other working team member. We did have a fruitful discussion about upcoming work, and I followed that with a review of things that happened at the start of last week when I was taking time off. Nothing needed any action from me.
This evening, we headed to Woking to visit family, taking the 5:55 pm train from Raynes Park. The train had just four carriages, which seemed quite unusual. At Raynes Park, a noticeable number of people were disembarking, but the trains were bustling.
We changed trains at Surbiton, where I noticed lots of young people on the train. I wonder if they’d been in town for something? The atmosphere was lively when I’d expected these ‘between days’ to be quiet. We arrived in Woking at 6:37 pm, as planned, with everything running smoothly despite the short train formations.
We had a lovely evening with everyone. They’d prepared a buffet for everybody and sourced some lovely Christmas plates and matching napkins. The Prosecco kept flowing, and we swapped presents. I got some smart home devices, the next books in the Bryant and May series, and something to inspire the use of the air fryer.
