Art Pass
We woke up to a substantial covering of snow. - at least 4 inches. The snow soon turned to rain, and now all that's left is a slushy mush. I hope it doesn't freeze tonight!
For Christmas, we treated ourselves to an Art Pass, so we decided to make full use of it today. In the morning, we went to the Art Gallery and the William Morris exhibition. It was fabulous, fascinating, and informative, but unfortunately, no photos were allowed. After some delicious lunch in the City Screen cafe, we went to the Yorkshire museum - the exhibits have changed a lot in the 20 years or so since our last visit!
In the collage:
- the Art Gallery foyer and entrance to the William Morris exhibition.
- the Middleham jewel found near Middleham castle and possibly belonging to Anne Neville, wife of Richard III
- the Coppergate Helmet, 8th century Anglo-Saxon found in the excavations for the Jorvik Viking Centre
- the St Mary's Abbey figurine found in the ruins of the Abbey in the 19th century. An example of Limoges enamelwork and made in France in the 13th century.
- St Mary's Abbey in the snow.
