I picked up a friend from the airport last night and we were supposed to head up to Picton to sail on the ferry at sparrows fart this morning.  All the sailings were cancelled yesterday due to the weather and it didn't look too good for the next couple of days either.  So I cancelled our tickets.  Probably just as well too as they also cancelled our morning crossing, AND they've got that backlog of hundreds of vehicles from yesterday!

My friend decided she'd like to tiki tour around Golden Bay instead, so we're slowly making our way there. We drove up to Murchison today, of course it had to be the highest temp in the country this afternoon at 28°!  The Australian friend is pleased but I don't like it!!

Once it cooled off a little we walked from our camp down to the river (all of 500metres).  This rock formation on the Buller River is one of my faves from when I lived here, and is the best spot for swimming in the area. Just a pity the Cafe that looks out on them closed many years ago.
