A Matthew A Day

Electrical work

So on Monday we've got a team coming to completely strip and retile our bathroom, and also strip the plaster from one wall of Matthew's room, reskim, and then repaint the entire room. This is the restoration works after they dried out the damp in the adjoining wall in August. Yes, August. They tell us it will take 2 weeks..

Anyway as a result we will have no access to a bath or shower for a fortnight, so the insurers have arranged for a "bathroom pod" to be delivered. This it seems is essentially a small portacabin that you hook up to an outside tap and a drain to be your temporary bathroom. (Which is going to be interesting in January! But it was that or a hotel/B&B). It also needs power, so the bathroom pod suppliers have arranged for a pair of 16amp external sockets to be installed by a local electrician. Because out existing consumer unit is "old" (about 15 years) and didn't have any spare circuits they also asked him to install a new fuse box in addition for the new sockets. So that's what's going on here. The fridge having been moved into the middle of the kitchen for the morning, needing me to find an extension cable so it would reach the sockets.

Now we just have to wait for Monday and work to start and the bathroom to arrive!
