Strange apparition

Considering the weather last week, and the likely weather this coming week, we were lucky to have an extremely smooth trip back to Edinburgh this morning. We left earlier than we expected, after a rather early and precipitate start. One gets rather used to very gentle starts in mid winter.... This morning, Mr A in particular was up and at 'em as soon as the alarm went off (ugh, alarms, also not a feature of midwinter).

We drove through winter wonderlands (especially just south of Inverness), as well as freezing fog (between Dalwhinnie and Perth), but overall the roads were not busy and we didn't encounter problems more serious than some powerful low directional light, as the sun rose over the mountains as we passed Cairngorm. We stopped for a comfort break at the Broxden Services and Mr A switched the heating on, just before we stopped. It didn't make the flat exactly warm when we got back, but it was less cold than it normally is. We also had hot water.

We had to walk over to the Foot of the Walk for some shopping, and on the way I spotted this strange apparition, which has appeared on the side of a building along Jane Street. Someone on here is bound to know who the artist is....

Later we watched the final of the Christmas University Challenge, which was very close but the all-woman team won, which was good, and re-watched Vengeance Most Fowl, to see what we had missed first time around (answer: quite a lot). To top off the evening, we gave The Wrong Trousers a quick viewing. An early night beckons.
