Crete covered in clouds

Today Sweetheart and I took the road and we went to Patsos at first to see the landlady Maria and her son Vasilis the landlord... we missed him as he was at a funeral in Rethimnon. Nevertheless seeing Mrs Maria (from 1940 she is) doing well was most welcome to us!  Her portrait is in Extra.

And then we went via Spili (main photo) on to Ardaktos where Alexandros Papadakis, who plays the Cretan Lyra and other instruments (like an Outi = Midterranean Lute) has his taverna and Sweetheart has a soft touch for this musician and Cretan man (in age he could have been Sweetheart's son). A day of dear encountres we had and a day of travels thro' the clouds when driving on the rough high rural roads.
