Saturday

We took down the outside Christmas lights today.

Then I went through the Christmas cards, deciding which to keep:

Tim - he always writes something personal and positive and his words usually make my eyes prickle. I've kept every card he's sent since our friendship properly started.

Becca - the girl who saved my daughter's life. Such lovely words. She went through hell too.

Clare - my daughter in law's mum. Again, special words that moved me.

Florence - obviously she was here for Christmas but she sent a card in early December. Boy! 2024 was a challenge for us all but especially for her and she really is a bright light in our lives.

Elaine - my S-in-L. With a diagnosis of dementia, it may be the last Christmas card she will ever remember to send. So I shall keep it.

The Penguin postcard missed the last post from Antarctica last March. A friend of my daughter went on a fantastic trip and sent Florence the card and it finally reached our address in December. I expect it spent much of 2024 in a cold post box.

No heavy or disruptive snow so far. I think we are just outside the forecast range.

No Louise today so I met Nigel instead.
