Here’s looking at you…

The only shot today from our stop at Mainsgill for lunch.

A safe journey, 8 and 1/4 hours driving time. Much less traffic than we expected. The worst conditions were the first 30 miles from Balerno over the high moors to the M74 at Annandale.

Lots of snow still on the road and freezing temperatures, compensated by stupendous views of blue skies, snow covered fields and mountains and the low sun etching shadows in the landscape.

You’ll have to take my word for it. I was itching to stop somewhere to take a shot for blip but there was never a convenient place to pull over.

The A1 at Grantham was shut southbound causing us to divert through the town. The detour was less busy than we expected and we were soon back on the A1.

It was only when we got home did we learn the reason for the closure. An accident late last night resulted in the death of a 7 month old baby and injuries to three adults, one severe. It made us stop and think about those poor people, the child and all their family. So sad.

At least we’re home safely. Whatever the weather over the weekend we’ve not got the worry of having to travel in it.

Lady F and myself (and Mrs T) are delighted by your responses to our blipsnaps.
