2024 Tuesday — Happy Birthday
Mr. Fun & I have celebrated this entire day because our lives changed forever on December 31, 1968, at 6:15 p.m. when our second baby was born and the nurses told us we had a daughter. In 1968, we didn't know before the birth what the gender of the baby would be. We were surprised and delighted.
Our daughter has been surprising and delighting us ever since. We named our daughter Deidre Anne, after my best friend from high school Dede Nash.
So today we celebrate the end of a year, and the wonder and joy of a daughter. Today there should be dancing in the streets because there is dancing in our hearts.
She and her older brother have both been enormous blessings in our lives. Our son was born on my birthday and is the reason I got to marry Mr. Fun. I was hoping to have our second baby on Mr. Fun’s birthday in mid-December, but the labor inducing meds did not work. Deidre arrived in her own timing and the 31st was the day.
Fifty-six years ago this evening God blessed us with the gift of a baby girl, our second child. We are thankful she loves Jesus with all her heart. Children are a gift from God; our two kids certainly are.
Happy Birthday Deidre (Dede, Deed).

and Chloe & Mitzi too!
P.S. She is not here with us this evening. She is at our other home in SoCal and a girlfriend of hers is visiting from the Midwest. Her girlfriend, Darlene, flew in on Christmas night and she will fly back to Tulsa on New Year’s Day. I’m delighted that she has a friend to spend her birthday with. Our daughter has never liked her birthday. She says it is a crummy day because everybody is busy celebrating New Year’s Eve.
