He is worried

Every New Years Eve afternoon we invite friends and neighbours for a drink and some snacks. There are so few places for a good communal gossip now so this sort of thing is very therapeutic.
We have been doing for some time and the original few has now grown to 30+ people and also this year eight extra family members. It is quite a squash.
Dudley does not like lots of people in the house so he spends most of the time behind the settee or under the bed. In preparation for the onslaught furniture is moved and more standing space made whilst still having a lot of seats. What with that and the work in the kitchen and "wine cellar" he has guessed something is happening and he is not too keen.
Come 2pm the room is full and Dudley is no where to be found.
Come 6pm most people have left and he reappears.
Between these times a lot of food disappeared, a lot of empty wine bottles appeared, a lot of laughter was heard and news and gossip exchanged. Its a lot of work but people seem to appreciate us providing a venue for a good get-together.
