Common Enchantments

Caught in the act

of eating the azaleas!    We have seen these youngsters eating around the azalea bushes but they usually would hear us and scatter.   This morning I was really sneaky and managed to get a few photos from the front door through the glass before it ran for cover.

I think this little guy/girl is the one that we have seen limping and that dark pointed hoof is probably why.   This is called foundering and we have that other buck from a few years ago that had this same problem on all four hoofs.   He never limped as his curled up.  We have not seen him recently.

This youngster seems to have only the one.  Hoping it will be able to adapt as it gets older.   I think this is a she as usually by now the little knobs appear on the males.

I will let her eat the azalea as she probably needs some greens!
