Witch hazel

I went looking for signs of spring today and discovered that I'd missed the beginnings. This witch hazel was in full flower so must have been out well before Christmas, there were hellebores that were past their best and snowdrops beginning to flower. I need to start earlier next winter. The weather was a complete contrast from the last few days as it was still, sunny and cold. I met JH and MH by chance on their way home after climbing Blackford Hill where the views had been spectacular with snow-covered mountains all around.
