Minas Tirith, City of King's
One of my lovely Christmas gifts last year was a "lego" build of the esteemed capital of Gondor from the Lord of the Rings franchise. After 4 interrupted days of building, I'm happy to say it is complete. What a set!
Minas Tirith, in the lore of tolkien, was established in the year 3320 of the Second Age of middle earth by the faithful Númenórians, alongside Minas Ithil (later Minas Morgul).
Initially called Minas Anor, meaning "Tower of the Sun", it was the dwelling of Anárion, son of Elendil and brother of Isildur. Furthermore, it was established as the capital following the increasing threat of Mordor to the original capital, Osgiliath which was situated on the Anduin river. This was due to its defensive capabilities, and was so named Minas Tirith meaning "Tower of Guard".
What a phenomenal city it is. A true sight to behold. And now I have a tribute to it in my lounge!
"I would see the White Tree in flower again in the courts of the kings, and the Silver Crown return and Minas Tirith in peace: Minas Anor again as of old..." - Faramir, Captain of Gondor
