Been twenty years since I last crossed the channel to the UK.

Pretty uneventful first long roadtrip (893km, 9hrs 09 mins driving time, ave 20.1kWh/100km) in my BMW iX1 EV, only having a problem in the area around Saarbrücken where there were no Ionity chargers. Went to an Aldi supermarket which had one and did my final shopping of food and drink goodies to take to UK. So no time wasted.

Caught the 22:00 DFDS ferry I had booked. So arrived at Dover before midnight. Got stopped by customs but only interested in what car I had! Didn't have to explain car overweight.

Then to the first Ionity chargers close by. Was planning to have a snooze in the car, but then read the signs at the services that one has to pay if staying longer than two hours. Paying to be safe by taking a nap? What's happening in the UK? Moved on in the hope of finding somewhere to rest up.
