Dishes

Washing dishes is one of those things that if the kitchen is completely clean, I can't bear to leave my dirty dishes lying around and so I'll do them almost straight away. But if there are other people's dishes waiting to be washed I'm much, much more likely to leave mine lying there too.

I think the same concept can be applied to our morality. If everyone around us has a high standard of morals, we can't bear to do anything less than that. But if we're surrounded by those who have much lower standards, it's difficult to resist the temptation to fall to those standards. It takes great character and perseverance to go against the crowd.
