(001) Cosmic!

I spotted a few pictures on social media this evening showing aurora activity so I persuaded myself to head outside with the camera. After almost a week of overcast grey conditions it was great to see a clear sky for a change. Although there was only an indistinct band of red visible, the fact that we are out in the countryside with minimal light pollution means that the night sky is a stunning spectacle even without an aurora. The most prominent object in the sky in this blip is Jupiter although Mars is also visible to the left of the image just above the grass bank. The red aurora is just visible on the right of the image.
