The Centenary of The Shipping Forecast

100 years old this year! This poster was originally wrapping paper which I framed to remind me that we all actually live on a ‘small’ island off the European continent! I am probably an insomniac but I do regularly listen to the 0520 and 0050 broadcasts of this British institution. ‘Sailing by’ is played prior to the night time broadcast.

A stormy day brought in 2025 to most parts of the U.K. today.

I watched The BBC Scotland Channel’s Hogmanay Show last night hosted by Amy Irons., late of The Nine. Not sure how they did it but they had the world famous Edinburgh Fireworks in all their glory! Did the fireworks happen without the street party of was that a recording of last year’s?
