start of a new year

We kind of missed the bells. Lord of the Rings in our home cinema still had 30 minutes to go. We paused, opened the fizz and observed the fire works from the balcony. After the film had finished we went for a brief walk. The fireworks were still going strong by the time we went for our walk. Not very far from us 36 flats were badly damaged by the detonation of illegal fireworks, one person died, many ended up in A&E. It's totally insane.

After lunch we went for a walk in our neighbourhood. It's quiet, only the detritus shows last night's excess.
