Dog search

Hogmanay for some friends was completely upset when their blind collie went missing about five o'clock yesterday afternoon. The area behind their house is thick rhododendron scrub and then runs down to very boggy ground and the river. This dog tends to make a beeline for water, and, given the amount of rain and high water levels, there was not a lot of optimism.
So the search restarted at nine this morning, with about a dozen people involved, including holiday-makers. I worked my way up the river, and then along the lochside. I went into a small wood beside the loch, and I would swear I'd checked everywhere. As I was walking back through the wood, I continued to call his name, and he simply appeared and trotted up to me. He was in fine trim and I popped a lead on him to take him home, having phoned his mam with the good news.
Long story short, one very happy owner.
