Simply Hope……

Hope for a happy New Year and more peace in the world. That is a simple enough wish. Another of my hopes, of a more mundane nature, is….for a much better crop of Scarlet Runner beans this year. Last year’s crop was virtually nonexistent. Such a disappointment. Luckily so far this growing season my runner beans plants are doing their best at flowering well and even creating the circle of life shown here. Seriously, runner beans are my favourite vegetable. I could eat them every day.
A grey day for the first of the year. Some light rain. And would you believe…it was cold enough to light the fire in the wood stove this morning. The fire has been burning all day. Ridiculous….. when it is mid-summer in New Zealand. My gratitude for today is for the gentle rain which helps the flowers grow.
