What a rough start to the new year!

And I’m not referring to a hangover. It’s time this stormy weather moved on.
Today I’ll be hunkering down with the telly and indulging my fascination for Mahjohn which is not quite the wander around town and the harbour, I’d planned, where divers are allowed on this one day each year. The good news for them is that once they get in the water all will be calm.
So today’s pic is a screen shot of the Mahong game I’m just about to start. You may not be surprised that I see it differently than I imagine anyone else does. I see some tiles as more important than others; some I think appear much less frequently while some are more senior and one is so rare it appears only once!. There are lots of similar occurrences (with a nod to Gavin and Stacey) but my head does not want to reveal its secrets so will say no more.
And finally for new year something interesting I learnt yesterday. I have often wondered why a bank cashier is called a teller and I decided to find out…

“According to Penandthepad.com, the term “teller” is from the Olde English, meaning “to count”. Okay, that makes sense. The person behind the counter “counts” the money that is being exchanged. While customers still call them “tellers”, most financial institutions have moved away from using the term.”
