Chimney sweep day. In Germany. Marzipan figures of a Chimney Sweep are often given as Good Luck pressies at New Year. Touching a chimney sweep is also said to bring good luck.

Originates from the middle ages where chimney sweeps were essential security from fire and naturally without a functioning fire, no warmth or cooked food.

Chimney sweeps in Germany are mandatory by law and possess quite wide ranging power, including the right to close down any combustion operated fire. They also have to give the OK to new installations. It's best to stay on the right side of them.
