Bauble
It’s a bit of an EB. It does have a story though. Years ago Thomson holidays did day trips to European cities. My friend and I had a great day in Prague so we booked to go to Rome. It didn’t bode well when we discovered the date on the booking form didn’t match the flight tickets ( remember those? Actual tickets in a little folder). However we turned up at the airport on the correct day. Everyone queued up and, after letting their lifts and taxis go, Thomson informed us that the Italian Airtraffic control was on strike. They randomly took us to Vienna. We had lira and not Austrian money and were dressed for Rome. It was early December and freezing in Vienna. I found an M & S and bought some thick tights at great expense. The Lipizzaner horses centre was shut amongst other things. Then they took us on a coach tour and proudly pointed out the Gestapo headquarters. I was shocked to say the least that they thought it was a tourist attraction.
The last thing we went to was the Christmas market which was quite enjoyable especially after the Glühwein. I bought this little horse from one of the stalls. Whatever you’re doing tonight, enjoy yourselves and Happy New Year!
