Wound up in Wexford

Dinner - they don't sit still for long

We had a very lazy day.  But there's no chance for parents to be lazy when keeping two young son's occupied during the holidays.  R and G took the boys to the park.  They had a nice walk - long enough that poor Alfie had to be almost pulled along the last few metres, but their plans for ice-skating, mini-golf and bowling were foiled by a combination of problems.

R and G had a large conservatory on the side of their house, which was always too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.  They couldn't get planning permission for the full conversion they desired, because the room was built with planning permission that was laxer than these days, so although the room already exists, and therefore cannot be taken away, it would not get planning permission by today's rules, so the city refused to allow them to take down the glass and replace it with insulated walls.

But they've insulated the roof, added functioning underfloor heating, and it's now perfectly usable in the winter.  It remains to be seen if it is cool enough in the summer.  It's almost doubled their living area.  It's now their main dining room, but also with a nice seating area we've enjoyed using.
