“She’s done some sewing”
I was relieved to get this message this morning and the photo.
Ella has done quite a bit of hand sewing with me and on her own, really taking to it. We started talking about sewing machines and she was delighted when I suggested that I buy her one for her birthday.
I knew it would be hard as I couldn’t be around to help her with it, so I bought it locally to her as I knew they would offer a lesson and general support.
Ella was very pleased to get the machine - it is a rather nice one but simple enough for a beginner. Sadly I was unable to help her get started with it then and I had to leave it with her but I thought she was quite capable of getting on by herself. As anyone with a sewing machine will tell you, threading it up is the hardest part. However, with a little help (Mike was better at following the instructions than anyone else!), she eventually figured it out and got sewing.
I gave her some packs of fabric and threads and a pair of cutting out scissors, but apparently she has a pile of clothes she is going to mend first! I am sad that I can’t be around to help her but I will follow her progress with interest.
