An ordinary life....

Feeling thankful...

Woke up at 5am and was delighted to find I felt much better.  Not feeling sick and temperature normal.  Fell back to sleep and woke up at 8am with D getting up for the Tesco delivery.  Closed my eyes and snoozed till 9am.

D's main Christmas pressie was new Galvin Green waterproofs for golf and he was keen to try them out, so he and Keith arranged to play at Leven.  Nutters!  He collected the steak pies and breakfast goodies from the butchers for New Year's Day and 2nd January before he went though.  It was a challenge to get everything in the fridge as Alan's team are using a shelf whilst their new kitchen is still being fitted.

Alan was still in bed when I got downstairs but Vickie said he'd had a more settled night. When he woke up he also felt much better but had no voice.
Not surprised with all the coughing he's done!  He was in a laughing mood though and it was extra funny as he was laughing heartily but silently!

Once dressed he chose to have a lazy day watching TV from his bed.  I don't blame him.  Just so relieved that he's on the mend.

I spent the afternoon trying to be as organised for Hogmanay and NYD as I can.  Serving dishes looked out for the Hogmanay buffet, decided what I'm wearing, crochet corner tidied up (and I allowed myself an hour's crochet of a project I started in 2022 but abandoned when more interesting projects surfaced.  Lovely chunky yarn and the shawl/cardi is almost finished so hopefully be wearing it in a week or two :-)

D returned from golf, very happy with his round and the weather had been fine!

Although feeling better my appetite is still not great, so D ate both our portions of smoked haddock fishcakes, and I had French Toast instead.  It was like having Andrew here!  :-))

Got the table set for nine.  Once of the weather warnings is for East Dunbartonshire and all our guests over New Year are from that area.  If they cancel we're going to be eating a helluva lot of soup, steak pie and chocolate pudding!

Got a lovely surprise mid evening when a message popped in from N, to say how much his boys love the paintings I did for them, along with a photo of them both holding their respective paintings.  He's already thanked me twice but it was so lovely to see the boys looking very happy with their creations.

I won't have time to wax lyrical tomorrow evening so just want to say, despite the awful things that have happened this year, both globally, and closer to home, I am so thankful we have all made it to the end of another year, and for the love and friendship in my life, including especially you lot. Blip is a very special place indeed.

2025 won't be the easiest with my surgery looming (desperately needed but not looking forward to it!) but I am focussing on the many more fabulous things to look forward to:-

My birthday in a few weeks.
New Great Niece arriving at the end of January.
Wee holiday break with Agnes and Adrian in February.
Blip pal Patricia's visit in May.
Holiday to Harris and Lewis in September.
More painting and more crochet....

Many more memories to be made and blipped.  Let the good times roll :-)))
