The Almighty

Appointment with the doctor who had done my bronchioscopy last week. Seemed quite likeable behind the mask for the 20 seconds before the anaesthetic beamed me away.

Now I'm not a one for bullshit and beating around the bush, but I do think doctors need a certain amount of bedside manners. Well none here - came straight out with it.

'It's bad cancer, inoperable and there's nothing meaningful we can do.'

OK, I replied

'You seem very calm about it' - he truly appeared to be surprised I didn't break down.

He did then go on to say my case would be discussed at the weekly cancer conference done by surgeons & oncologists for the region's hospitals, but he saw no hope.

I didn't ask how long I possibly had.

PS luckily not all men in white coats are Gods, as I was to find out.
