Christmas lights
I drove Smithers to the eye clinic at our local hospital this morning. We arrived at 9.50 am for a 10.00 am appointment, and after about half an hour he was given the usual eye test and pressure test. We then sat in the waiting room … and waited … and waited. After about an hour a nurse started writing on a board on the wall, giving waiting times beside each department. Smithers needed the glaucoma clinic, which showed the longest waiting time of 1 hour 45 minutes. (See extra.)
In the event, we didn’t get in to see a consultant until nearly noon. She offered no apology for the wait, and knew nothing about Smithers’ case, so we had to explain all the circumstances of his emergency glaucoma operation. However, she was thorough, and quite helpful. We go back again in four months’ time for another check. Altogether it took three hours, even though the hospital is only a ten minutes’ drive away from our home.
So all in all it’s been a bit of a frustrating day, because I still haven’t found my bone paper creaser. Four of us have searched thoroughly and it is still missing. I’ve moved furniture, emptied drawers and looked in every other room in the house. I’ve thought of every logical (and quite a few illogical) scenarios, to no avail. Smithers is having quite a hard time convincing me that I’ve only mislaid a bone paper creaser, it doesn’t mean that I’m losing my marbles as well …
My photo is an attempt to brighten my mood by capturing some of the twinkling fairy lights in our family room.
