Cyberpunk Crib Scene
I’m pleased to share another creation by Son#2 and his partner. Besides their somewhat quirky approach to cake decorating, each year they like to use Lego to design a crib scene with a novel twist. This year the twist is cyberpunk – so inevitably it’s somewhat futuristic. I hope no-one minds this re-interpretation of the nativity story into a modern context.
Naturally in the centre we have the crib itself containing the baby Jesus. In keeping with the Bible story there are shepherds seen to the left of the scene, although these are cyborg shepherds with electric sheep. On the right are the three wise hackers carrying their computer equipment: the one in front has a star on his screen to guide them.
Behind these characters is a normal shopping street (there’s no particular significance to the numbers above the shops – they were the only numbered Lego bricks which were available). If you can see any detail in the shop behind the shepherds you’ll note that it sells computer equipment. The apartments above the shops are equipped with air conditioning units for cooling in the summer and heating in winter.
The wise “men” had, of course, unfortunately alerted King Herod (top centre) to the arrival of the new King of the Jews: having realised their mistake they’re doing their best to hack into Herod’s computer system to confuse his attempts to locate the baby.
In the centre below Herod is a guardian angel (a cyberpunk one of course) who will in due course warn the family to escape to safety in Egypt.
Also: The penultimate day of our Iceland trip last month is now backblipped here.
