welcome to the real world

London

Shan’s first trip to central London. She was very excited all morning and couldn’t wait to go. She asked to bring her London book with us so she can look at the places we will be visiting. So whilst on the train we read the Buckingham Palace page which showed the soldiers guarding the palace and a child trying to tickle them to make them laugh. When we got to the palace she was mesmerised by the soldiers but asked why no one was tickling them! We took some photos by the statues in front of the palace and she asked ‘Is this even real or am I dreaming?!’ We walked down the Mall to Trafalgar Square - well Archie carried Shan half the way as she was ‘too tired’. She loved the fountains and just stood staring at them. We let her sit with the lion statues but she wasn’t too sure about them… We bought a hot chocolate from the Christmas market and listened to the choir sing whilst standing around the fountains. As we headed back to the station Shan asked if we could ‘see one more thing’ which I think means she enjoyed the outing! We treated her to McDonald’s on the train ride home. When the train stopped at New Beckenham Shan said ‘ah where the King and Queen live’ then when the train stopped at Hayes she shouted ‘This is us!’ We had a great day!
