Braid Burn, Blackford Glen

A pretty dull day, but still very mild for the time of year. Robins were out in force. One I could see very well, but was located in the middle of a bush, so couldn't photograph it. The paths through the woodland were very muddy in places despite not having had much rain.

After lunch, partner and I walked through the Hermitage. We initially took the restored path on the northern bank of the Braid Burn. The rangers have installed a boardwalk where the stream had badly eroded the path. There was a deadly nightshade plant here that had a couple of purple flowers on a stem, Extra. The photo of the burn was taken at the far end of the Hermitage, near the end of the woodland section. If you view it large, you should be able to make out the 'Scout' bridge. After this point, the slopes are more rocky, so the landscape is more grassland. We walk along Blackford Glen Road, then to the Cameron Toll shopping centre. We have Friday afternoon coffee and cake here,  as well as visiting a few of the shops, before getting the bus home.
