In Which Punky's Bungee Loses Its Bounce

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

It's rollercoaster ride with Punky. After the highs of yesterday, today he seemed low and depressed.

He didn't get up for breakfast and for a run around the garden as is usual. Instead he hunkered in his bed and glowered at me when I went to see him.

He purred a little when I spoke to him, but that was it.

And we didn't see much of him all day. I suppose he is still in pain, and maybe today it bothered him today more than yesterday. Perhaps he overdid it.

At dinnertime I ordered KFC because that is one of his favourites. He immediately got out of bed and waited impatiently for me to bring him a plate.

This is fairly standard Punky behaviour.

I couldn't help but wonder if this had been his plan all along. But after snacking he took himself back to bed.

Maybe I expect too much of him. I guess it takes a while to get over major surgery, and I shouldn't be dismayed if a bad day follows a good one.

Today he seems brighter. He's had breakfast and strolled around the garden.

And there's leftover KFC in the fridge.
