Now We See Through a Glass Darkly…..
The words that came to mind simultaneously with the taking of this blip through the frosted glass of a window were -‘For now, we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face……….’ The fact that the window was one belonging to the Greek Orthodox Church in Meadow Lane obviously prompted the biblical connection.
It has been an unseasonably mild day with a vivid sunrise yet again. The days may be lengthening at sunset but the sunrise remains obstinately at 8:44am. I feel a bit like a mole scurrying about in the darkness for so much of the day.
As I made my home along George Square , there was no other person visible and I shocked myself by regretting there wasn’t a single student in sight. I was congratulating myself on having weathered the Christmas period unscathed with things almost back to normal when I realised I have to do it all again with bells on next week at Hogmanay and New Year’sDay when the whole city goes mad.
