In Close-Up

The Artist Julian Bell painted this diptych, Adoration of the Magi, in 2001, specifically for display at Advent on the tower of Harveys Brewery in Lewes. In the tradition of the Renaissance masters, he asked local people to sit for the figures in this classic scene.

Maintenance works on the brewery tower this year mean that Harvey's are unable to display the work in its usual, intended location. They have therefore taken the opportunity to display it in one of their shop fronts - the one next to the Ouse Bridge on Cliffe High Street, as seen in today's 'Extra' - where the public can see and admire the work in close-up.
