A Sweet Tradition
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
We had a lovely Christmas Eve with Albert and The Duke. The Duke brought Rumtopf which went down very well. It’s basically rum, sugar and fruit which is then matured for months and Penny used to make one every year. The Duke decided to restart with the tradition this year which is lovely.
The first time I was offered Rumtopf, I attempted to politely decline as I don’t like rum. Thankfully Penny insisted that I’d love it…and she was right. It’s delicious!
I became such a fan that when Penny broke the news that the original rum pot had became porous and was no longer useable, I spent a long time sourcing another one. Tradition is important!
The house is tidy. The food is prepped for tomorrow. The stockings are full. We are ready for Christmas!
