Reflections In The Head, Broadview Gardens, Hadlow
The Christmas Day meal came together rather well this year. The turkey (which is my domain) was perfectly cooked, luckily, (no pink meat this time!) and my brother did all the rest - the veg, stuffing and roast potatoes were all lovely, the bread sauce spot on and the gravy was a triumph - hurrah! It all tasted so good and was accompanied by some delicious wine so we were both happy and very pleased it turned out so well.
Unfortunately, the weather has stayed dark, grey and damply cold throughout. Today was no exception but we felt we had to have a short trip out to get some fresh air and a picture or two. I took the extra, "Oh, Oh, Oh, It's No Longer Ho, Ho, Ho!", first in Wateringbury where we stopped off for our first post Christmas pint. This hat had been left on the hedge just next to where we parked so I had to get the shot (some jiggery pokery in the editing helped me with the title of the photograph!).
As we left the pub the weather turned even gloomier and misty but this made everything very atmospheric so we decided to head on to Hadlow so we could revisit Broadview Gardens. We were the only people there so we had free rein to walk round and try and capture something. I ventured back to the Japanese garden and that's where I took my main photo. I realised I couldn't get rid of my reflection in the water for the composition I wanted so I chose to make a feature of it instead. I held my camera strap above my head and shaped my fingers for maximum effect. It's a slight nod to Lee Friendlander who was not immune to including himself in an image if he thought it added to the photograph itself.
