Happy Christmas 2024

Daughter Number 2 hosted Christmas for the 1st time this year in their stunning new massive kitchen. It was an absolute hive of activity with so much food being prepared and presents everywhere. 

We had a great day. The boys were happy with only a few bust ups, Bella was really well behaved, Baby Mylo loved his new baby walker we bought him, the food was delicious but the best thing I saw all day was when I looked over to see Grandad helping the boys play a game. It melted my heart. 

Mr W is step dad to my kids. The grandchildren are not biologically his but he says they may as well be, but - he struggles to play. He struggles with noise and the boys are a bit scared of him. He does very little with them and doesn't join me when I look after them. I feel like a bit of a single grand parent. It's not because he doesn't love them. It's because of his own up bringing and the fact he's mid 70's!! So for me to see this really made my day. And it was the boys who asked Grandad Ray to help them. No fear. 

I bought DN2 a pottery wheel for Christmas. We managed to sneak it into her garage. I then made her a shirt that said "throwing a wobbly in the garage".... It took her a few minutes to work out the cryptic message but said it was because she couldn't believe she could possibly have been bought a wheel!!!!! But I did! And she cried!!!!!

Sadly our day was cut short a bit as my ex husband was due to come for the evening. He suddenly decided to come 45 minutes early. Him calling the shots again... But that's quite typical of his narcissistic ways. It wouldn't have been so bad if we weren't still busy opening presents but it is what it is and I didn't allow it to define Christmas . I was just grateful to have been able to hand the batten down to the next generation! I have done nearly 40 years of hosting Christmas. I'm happy to sit back and watch now!!!!
