Boxing Day

After yesterday’s endurance walk we both slept well and although I was awake at 04:30 I felt refreshed and rested.
Scriptures read, washed, dressed and lightly nourished I reflected on how thankful I am to be alive, living in a beautiful place and have a kind, loving puppy in my life.
We headed out on the morning adventure at 7 am and needed a torch in the misty gloom but soon enough the day dawned and visibility without the torch was just about possible.
Dippy as usual skipped and danced in the damp grass and leapt across the stream while I cleared some more scrub and leafy debris to produce some fresh tunes with the water now flowing in a more positive way.
We continued our walk and with Dippy on his leash walked through the field which contained two dozen sheep, interestingly the sheep remained calm just keeping one eye on us as we walked around the perimeter of the field. Dippy was very quiet and we were soon passed them and into another area where we came across a ewe tangled up in some brambles. Once released we walked into a small lane and I started to feel extremely hungry.
We were less than 600 metres away from a Costa packet outlet (which isn’t difficult these days wherever you live!)
After greeting several dogs and their owners en route we ordered a Chai latte pigs in blanket, toasted sandwich and a bowl of water!
As usual Dippy entertained the customers several of whom I knew well who were mostly looking weary and bored, although they did kindly let Dippy’ eat some of their scraps.
Fully satisfied we were able to use the new traffic control crossing and walked back along the lane to rejoin the safety of our fields. We arrived back at Amadeus with a thick mist surrounding the area 5 hours after leaving.
After a long refreshing shower our afternoon and evening was a pleasant relaxing affair with some lovely phone calls from friends and relatives from around the country.
Evening meal with smoked salmon and antipasti followed by another turkey dinner and afters of Christmas cake topped with clotted cream:)
More scripture reading before the inevitable Zzzzzzzz
