Christmas Day

S and I opened one of our presents to each other and a joint one as we had our coffee and croissant. The joint one was a ravensburger Venice scene jigsaw. He got me a bottle of one of my fav perfumes, which I’ve loved for a number of years Hermes Sur le Nil. It just smells of sunshine and summer (to me). Ive just read that it means Summer on the Nile created in 2005 and it was inspired by the green mangoes the creator smelled while walking through a grove of mangoes. How apt then that it gives me this feeling when I smell it. I got him a New pair of sheepskin slippers from a seller from France on Etsy. I had no idea if they fitted by thankfully getting a size up was a good idea as they fit perfectly. Phew!

We started on the food prep. I had to sit as I made the trifle as still not 100 percent better. We just ploughed on through it and cooked off the stuffings, roasties, carrots, Brussels etc. there is nothing fancy about our Christmas Dinner just the usual , plenty veg and turkey for the rest and chicken for me.

They arrived around 1 and we ate about 2. It all
Went well. I didn’t have much as appetite still not back fully. Before we started I gave a wee toast to Mum and said a few words , she is always much missed at family events and really it’s not the same without her but she’d be annoyed at us if we didn’t go on and enjoy everything as we always did.

After the main course we came over and opened the rest of the presents with the gang. It’s a depleted lot under the tree nowadays as it’s mostly money for the boys as they like to choose their own stuff. I got Ben a charging device for his I phone when out and about the same as my one. He had two trips abroad with me so he was well looked after this year so Cameron got the equivalent of Bens flight costs just to keep them the same (important). Cameron needs a new device for his studies so he can choose something himself.

We had the trifle which everyone seemed to enjoy (thankfully). Also had a tray of profiteroles (my fav) for the chocolate and cream hit!

I bought the gang a game - Race across the World same as the tv programme and we played that which we enjoyed. Dave bought a game too which I can’t remember the name and then the old fav from the lockdown years, Carcassone. S and I played this at 4pm every day during lockdown. It was a game that I actually was good at beating him at as mostly in other games he wins which drives me nuts!!! Laura was saying that it’s 20 years since the Tsunami- she remembered being heavily pregnant with Cameron - he’s 20 in March - time has marched on …..

They left just before 9pm. Something about watching Gavin and Stacy live. I’ve never watched it ever so the hype has passed me by. I can’t stand Corden anyway so it would not have been a choice.

We collapsed on the sofa about 9:20 and watch a programme on Roger Moore which was interesting. He narrated a lot of it and he came across as a funny and interesting guy . I’m old enough to have enjoyed seeing him in The Saint and a big family favourite in the 70s, The Persuaders. He lived quite a glam life - love a look into lifestyle of rich and famous.

That’s another Christmas Day done.
