Boxing Day
Hope that everyone had a Christmas Day to suit. We had a lovely time at our elder son's house. He and his partner did us proud for food, gifts and games. The game involved walking and crawling round the house with a container of ping-pong balls on one's head. Well you can imagine. I was definitely last being both slowest and crawling in the most questionable way.
I was designated driver which was fine except that my (growing) aversion to driving in the dark meant that we left at about 3:30 pm. But actually I think that was ok for everyone. The girls and their mum and dad weren't far behind us. We had intended to have a big evening meal with our daughter but really we weren't hungry after the feast of substantial nibbles we'd consumed. We'll have our meal tonight instead.
What we did enjoy last night was some Christmas cake and cheese. That's a combination I love. As I don't marzipan or ice my cake it works well with a tangy cheddar or, last night, some delicious Wyfe of Bath.
Poor Flora has an infected eye. It looks awful but it doesn't seem to be causing her pain or even discomfort. I've been bathing it with salt water but I think she might need a trip to the vet tomorrow. Hope the surgery will be open.
Today we've been out for a walk in the mild but rather grey weather. We're off to the cinema soon then home to prepare the festive meal. It's the quiet day between two busy ones so I'm making the most of it. Boxing Day is my favourite of the season. Hope yours is good too.
I'd share the cake if I could :-) It is pretty tasty!
