East Perth

East Perth was where my Mum grew up and I have very happy memories of staying in the same house with my Nanna and Grandad as a little girl.  I can’t believe how that area of Perth has changed.  This is Claisbrook Cove and it is a small offshoot of the Swan River.  It’s surrounded by what look to be reasonably new apartments and there are cafes on the perimeter as well.  My Grandad was the curator of the East Perth Oval on Buller St for over 25 years and I’m keen to check out how that has been developed as well.  I believe there is a massive stadium there now and the old council house that Nanna and Grandad used to stay in is long gone.   It was a wonderful two story federation home and they used to live in the ground floor area.  We used to love being able to go through the back gate onto the oval and sneak in to watch the footy for free :).
