The Ferryboat Inn - Helford passage, Cornwall

Behind the confusion of boats lies our dinnertime destination.

Location-wise the 300 year old Ferryboat Inn is hard to beat. It used to be one of our favourite pubs. Unfortunately I suspect that it's popularity has got to it a bit and the quality has suffered somewhat in recent years. Nice fresh seafood if you don't mind sandy mussels and lacklustre service. But it is a picturesque place to while away the evening, sitting outside watching the comings and goings. No cars, just boats: various yachts and dinghies of all ages; the ferry across to Helford village on the other side of the river; the local gig rowing club (Helford River Gig Club). The rowers are a really friendly bunch - we even got out with then last year for a row down to the point and back.

Oh and great ice creams from the ferry kiosk by the jetty.
