Nordiska Museet
I'm still a couple of days behind with blipping - posting this on the evening of 25th Dec, so I'd like to wish everyone Merry Christmas.
Another very slow start, neither of us having slept very well.
We took the Metro to Karlaplan, and then walked down Narvavägen, to cross Djurgårdsbron, and visited the Nordiska Museet - seen here across the water. A very interesting exhibition of life in Scandinavia (mainly, but not exclusively Sweden) from the 16th Century to modern day. Too much for one visit, but we got a good flavour.
I was surprised to discover the building, which was quite ornate, so I thought initially it was probably an adapted palace, was in fact built as a museum. I was as interested in the way it had been decorated and designed as I was in the exhibits.
After several hours on our feet, we were grateful for the fact that the tram stopped right outside the museum, and delivered us back to the central transport terminal. Here, we found a basic, but adequate Thai restaurant, before catching the metro back to our apartment.
